Welcome to this section - newly created for the Summer of 2009!
Since the launch of our website way back in 2006, requests for family searches have increased dramatically. Usually we are able to find out the relevant information - but not always. Our parish records - (as in all Catholic parishes) only go back to 1833 as it was only from then parishes were allowed to keep their own records - before that they were kept in the Public Record Office in Dublin, based in the Four Courts. During the Civil War, the building was seized, burned and the records destroyed.
Through this website, we also receive queries from other faiths and this can prove more difficult so, we normally pass on the contact details of the relevant churches.
From the many compliments received about tullylish.com website, it is obvious that our fellow church members in the Tullylish area log on frequently, and that is why we hope this section will find success.
Over the next week or so, we will publish some of the queries received because maybe some of you are also looking for, or have found, the same information.
It is very humbling to realise that, what started out as a small website for our own little parish, has reached all corners of the globe and united everyone with Tullylish in their heart.
Hopefully, with so many logging on, we can help each other in our family searches.

We have started the mammoth task of computerising the records and, believe me, it is a mammoth task. Each time the old books are opened and light gets to them, the writing fades, so the task is urgent.
