This weekend some of the new translation in responses and prayers said by the congregation will be used for the first time. But the order and structure of the Mass is not changed. Nor are the readings changed. Over time, we will become familiar with the prayers which have very slightly changed, for example, in the Holy, Holy, we say ’Lord God of hosts’ and in the response to ‘Pray, brothers and sisters’, the addition of one word, ‘holy,’ before ‘Church.’ Other prayers have much more changes and where we said ‘And also with you’, we now say ‘And with your spirit’. Congregational Cards are available in the porch for use during the Mass. Please return these to the porch after the Mass is ended as they are needed for weekday Masses also. A small number of booklets entitled ‘Praying the Mass’ have also been printed for your use. If there are none left in the porch and you would like a copy, please contact the Parish Office - or you can download one, (or any of the previous leaflets issued over the poast number of weeks) by clicking on the appropriate link below. This booklet contains all the congregational responses and prayers plus a very ‘user-friendly’ explanation of the changes. Over the past number of weeks, leaflets have been left in the porch outlining in detail the various changes. If you would like one of these, they can also be obtained from the Parish Office. It will, of course, take us a while to become familiar with the new missal, and we will inevitably slip into the old wording at times, but I’m sure as we learn together we will find a new richness in the liturgy. For those who are planning their wedding, it is important you use the new wording in your booklet. We do have a template for the the wedding booklet. Just contact the parish office.
