In memory of Marie Larkin

Marie Larkin

In Memory of Marie Larkin

Marie was born in August 1983, the middle of 3 children to Brigid and Martin, joining Joseph and Ceara.

She attended Saint Catherine's college, Armagh before entering the world of employment as a young adult.

Around 2005, at the youthful age of 21 she met her future husband Paul on a night out in Newry.

By Paul's own admission, this is the best thing that ever happened to him.

Instantly Paul realised what a special woman Marie was. The couple were married in a beautiful service in St Patricks Church, Kilmore on August 4th 2010.

In the time that Paul and Marie had been together, Marie would regularly change her employment, until her most recent role at Almac Pharmaceutical in Craigavon. It was here that she loved her work, where colleagues became her close friends.

In March 2013, Marie gave birth to her first child, Odhrán. Marie then instantly realised how special a gift motherhood was and she relished the role.

In March 2016, they were again blessed when Marie gave birth to their second child, Ava, affectionately known by the family as "The Boss!"

Marie always put her children first, regularly waking in the middle of the night to tend to the children. She would often eat her own dinner cold, having fed the children before herself.

This commitment demonstrates the generous and caring approach that she always afforded her family to ensure they were looked after.

"family time" and fun were also integral to Marie's life and how she raised the children. Marie was keen to ensure her family had Holidays, visits to the park and made memories together.

Marie's diagnosis did not cause her to relax these values. Her strength ensured that what she realistically wanted to achieve, was achieved. It is with this strength which Marie's family can draw from, to help their own struggles in the times ahead.

Remember Marie as a family oriented person who always put others before herself. She was a strong, determined woman and an Inspiration to her family.
