 RETURNING TO CHURCH FOR MASS

To ensure YOUR safety, certain rules need to be adhered to on entering the church.

To help with this, we need stewards who can assist people entering or leaving the church and to direct them to available seats. Please follow the directions of the signs.

Diocesan guidelines ask that communion is distributed at the end of Mass so that the congregation can leave immediately, reducing the risk of more contact than is necessary.

Bulletins must not be left in the church to prevent cross contamination, so please, bring yours home with you.

After each Mass, the entire church must be sanitised and to assist with this, the parish has bought a machine for Gilford and Laurencetown for that purpose - an electric ULV Fogger. It will save a lot of time but it needs a 'body' to operate it. It's easy to use and we'd be very grateful if you could join a rota for the job!

While the machine sanitises the church, it doesn't 'clean' it - brushes and mops for that job unfortunately and our Altar Society teams are getting smaller and smaller. With the doors of the churches being left open constantly, it means more cleaning!

Please, consider adding your name to the Altar Society of your chosen church or encourage younger members of your family to do it - male and female! You can email Christine at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or telephone the parish office on 028 406 24236 option 2 where you can also leave a message outside office hours.

Those who are at an increased risk from the virus and/or have been advised to shield themselves are strongly advised to remain at home.
You may feel more comfortable by attending a weekday mass instead of Weekend masses.
Our churches can only accommodate less than 65 people in each church with social distancing. First come, first served.

The obligation to attend Mass during the period of the pandemic has been removed and remains in place until further notice.
Mass in Gilford on Thursday at 10.00 am and Sunday at 11.30 am.
Mass in Laurencetown on Friday at 9.30 am and Saturday at 6.00 pm.
Other Masses will be put on as are required and if a priest is available.
Let’s be patient and start everything slowly and sensibly.

Standing Order pdfA huge thank you to all who have used the 'DONATE' button on the website. It's a simple way for you to make a contribution to the parish. However, as there is a nominal charge to the parish for each transaction, we would prefer if you did not use this method for your regular weekly/monthly contribution. If you find this method easier than using the 'envelope', why not sign up for a standing order. It saves you searching for the money on a Saturday evening or a Sunday morning and you can amend it at any time. An updated form is available if you click below.
