Report from Dublin WMOF

Subject: Report from Dublin WMOF meeting 28th June

Folks,

We are nearly there, with all events in play and arrangements nearing final agreement.

Statistics

  • Registration for the RDS has closed with 33,000 registrations, broken across the three days as 21,000,  20,000, and 25,000.
  • All 46,000 Knock tickets are gone
  • Papal Mass tickets are currently at 440,000 issued
  • About 30,000 Papal Mass applications continue to be received each day, this too must close very soon

Travel to/from Phoenix Park

Those of you that are travelling by coach, do not need a separate ticket, so if your organiser can reply to the bus-booking email confirmation with an indication of how many previously registered travellers they have, these places can be reallocated.

There are special train tickets available online, these cannot be purchased on the day. See the government website for travel details http://gov.ie/en/preparing-for-a-long-journey-7776/ .  There is a special Dublin travel pass for the Sunday 25th at a cost of 4 euro.

Car parking facilities are not yet clarified.

Eucharistic Ministers

There will be a need for further Eucharistic ministers at the Papal Mass. Please encourage your able-bodied Eucharistic ministers to apply.

In all there are over 4,000 volunteers, more are still needed for the Papal Mass.

Papal Encounter with Recently Engaged and Married Couples

This event will take place in the Pro-cathedral in Dublin on Saturday24th at 3:30pm. The request for nominations will go out through the Diocesan office. A detailed communication from Fr. Tim will be sent on Monday 2nd July to all dioceses. This will be a high security event, so picture id will be required.

Festival of Families (Parish nominees)

The special codes for these tickets will be issued on Monday 16th July. The deadline for all electronic ticket applications will be 31st July, following this date the codes will be inactive and the spaces reallocated in Dublin. Several parishes have already furnished the details of their nominations.
