 Hi Catherine,

Well we are back home in Melbourne, I want to thank you for your help while we were in Ireland.

Is it possible to have you check your records for dads relatives that would have come from 1chapel row and still be in Lawerancetown. We know that there were other members of the Magee family that lived at that address.

Once again I'd like to thank you, we had a great time and I wish I could be over there now.

I plan to come back again in the next twelve months or so.

Visitors from Melbourne

On Thursday 10th May the Parish Office had a visit from Noreen and Cara Magee from Melbourne.

Noreen was born in Laurencetown and moved to Australia with her family when she was only three years old.

The family home was No 1 Chapel Row before they moved to Hazelbank - just opposite Laverty's pub.

Anthony Magee, Noreen's father coverted part of the house into a shop, which was later occupied by Joe and Francie Murphy, with Tommy and Josie Fearon occupying the original house.  Noreen and her sister-in-law Cara were delighted to be standing on the old 'homestead' before crossing the road to have a chat with Pat MacFlynn. Pat knew Anthony very well and they shared some great stories.

Noreen's father was Anthony Magee, who was born in Chapel Row, the son of Minnie Magee (Molloy) Anthony married Norah McGreevy from Belfast and is still alive and well, aged 90. Noreen was telling us that her mum wanted to come to the Eucharistic Congress in Dublin!
