Making their way to "The Point"
Hi Catherine We are home safely and Jonjo loved his Ireland walk. Thank you so much for everything you did for him, I hope you caught a glimpse of him on UTV. The weather was kind to him, the scenery was amazing and he raised a good sum of money en route and a great deal of awareness too. Please pass on our thanks to everyone who attended the start of his walk, it really did mean a lot to our family. I have attached a couple of photos of the finish for you. Kind regards Jonjo and family x
SCHOOLBOY fundraiser extraordinaire Jonjo Heuerman will take his fundraising from Kent to Northern Ireland for the first time as he embarks on a new walk from The 11-year-old will cover 24 miles in 3 days between 4 April and 6 April, raising money for Cancer Research UK. Jonjo is no stranger to exceptional sponsored walks and he has recently completed his third and most ambitious 66 mile walk in London from West Ham to Wembley and back. So far Jonjo has raised an incredible £105,000. He was inspired to start raising money for Cancer Research UK after his beloved Nanny Lyn died of bowel cancer in February 2009, aged just 60. Now, in memory of his Grandad and his Granny whom both died from cancer, he will be walking between their resting places in a bid to raise even more vital funds. Mum Donna said: “I am so proud of Jonjo and his charity work, he has achieved so much. His Ireland walk is particularly special to Jonjo as he has a huge family in Northern Ireland. He is very excited and hopes he can generate support from members of the public who might like to walk with him and help him on his way.” Jonjo has attracted celebrity support from Rio and Anton Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Cilla Black, Gaby Roslin, Paul Ross and West Ham joint owner David Gold. In addition, he has won several awards including the Diana ‘Young Fundraiser’ Award and Spirit of London ‘National Campaigner’ Award for his exceptional fundraising. Jonjo is looking forward to taking his next walk to his mum’s birthplace and being joined by the rest of his family and friends there. As with their previous walks, they invite people to join them from the local area. Lindsey Richardson, fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, said: “Jonjo continues to impress us year after year with his determination to go on raising funds. It’s a huge challenge for him and his whole family and we are forever grateful for all the effort they put in. The funds they raise will help us further on our way to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.” For more details and to register visit: www.jonjosirelandwalk.moonfruit.com And to donate visit: https://www.justgiving.com/Jonjoswalk
