Laudato Si

On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si') is the appeal from Pope Francis addressed to "every person living on this planet" for an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. Pope Francis calls the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path. This encyclical is written with both hope and resolve, looking to our common future with candor and humility.

At a recent conference on CLIMATE CHANGE organised by the SMA Fathers in Dromantine, we were given the shocking statistics that Ireland creates as much greenhouse gas as the 400 million poor people in the world. We also personally create 100 times the carbon footprint as one African.

We are living in exceptional times and our choices today will have reprecussions for those who come after us.

When the children of the present ask us in the future "What did you do, once you knew?" what will YOU say?

You can't say you didn't know - the information is there for us all and it is up to each of us to educate ourselves about CLIMATE CHANGE before it is too late.

If you do nothing else today, take 5 minutes and watch the video below.
