Shannaghmore

Shannagmore is a great place for children and also a great place to make friends. On Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th of September 2013. The class went to Shannaghmore for a school trip which was very enjoyable and exciting. We went rock-climbing; we had to climb up a 21 foot wall and ring a bell and then we had races to the top which was great fun! To protect ourselves from getting hurt we had to wear mountain boots and a hard hat.

We also participated in an obstacle-course which was also great fun!! It was difficult to do as we had to wear again the hard hat and mountain boots. Watching people fall was so funny.

After the obstacle-course we went wet bouldering which was dangerous but exciting. It was great to see so many people jumping and sliding around and then fall into the pools of freezing cold water! We climbed up hills and rivers to get to the top of the mountain. To take part in the bouldering we all had to wear wellies, a wetsuit, a lifejacket and a hard hat.

It was strange seeing people in their wet suits, especially the teachers!

Then we had lunch which was very tasty and well prepared.

After lunch we went to the games room which was a brilliant end to a great day!

I am in Year 8 in St. Patrick’s College, Banbridge. In my second week at my new school we went on a trip to Shannaghmore in Newcastle.

I went with my new class and 3 of our teachers. We left school at 9.00am and arrived in Shannaghmore at about 10.00am. I was really excited and looking forward to trying new things.

First, my group went rock climbing and I really enjoyed it. Then we went and had our lunch. Our instructor told us during lunch that we were going bouldering next. We had to wear wetsuits and when we got them on we headed to Bloody Bridge. It was great fun and I enjoyed this activity the most though at the end I was really glad that I brought a change of clothes as I got soaked!

We arrived home at about 5.15pm. I had a really great day but I was tired when I got home.

I really enjoyed my trip to Shannaghmore and I also really enjoyed getting to know all of my new classmates.
