A very happy birthday to Anne McEvoy!
Anne McEvoy or Anne McVeigh as most people call her, (even thought Leo says he paid good money to have her named changed!) is referred to as A LADY!
Unfortunatley, due to Covid, the planned celebration couldn't take place for this extraordinary lady who helps EVERYONE!
Anne is the 'go to' person for every occasion, whether its baking her delicious mince pies for the annual 'Mince Pie Mass' in the school, to organising how many sandwiches you can get out of a loaf, to alterations on any garment that needs altered, to washing and preparing all the altar linens in Laurencetown Church and too many other things to mention.
Every child that went to St. Colman's Bann experienced her warmth and affection - and second helpings!!!
Since her retirement she has worked harder than ever, always on hand to do what is needed in the parish and elsewhere. But none of that comes before her family - Leo, Maria, Adrian and Kieran and grandchildren Daniel, Philip, Aideen, Sorcha, Katie and Emma Jane and of course, Robert and her sister Mary.
A true example of hospitality, the kettle always on, there is always a feast of home baked cakes, pies etc for a welcome cuppa in Number 3. It's no wonder that a previous principal of St. Colman's Bann, (John Monaghan) who was also a past pupil, said on the occasion of her retirement: 'As a child, I thought Anne was the Immaculate Conception because her birthday was 8th December. In all the years since then, I've had no reason to change my mind!'
Anne - you are a gem!!!!
The fabulous cake was made by Anne's daughter, Maria McCrory
