Thanks to funding received from Northern Ireland Executive's Social Investmenr Fund, the G.C.C. Hall in Gilford has had a facelift! From its foundation in 1957, a loyal band of volunteers has kept the hall alive and now, in 2019, it is a hall/venue that can compete with the best of them. Funding facilitated an almost total refurbishment that began in March 2019 and was completed in August 2019.
New wiring, fixtures and fittings, new toilet facilities, doors, handrails with the upstairs reading rooms refurbished. It was lovely to see the original hall floor and ceiling intact - there's something about the ceiling that brings back many memories. It always reminded me of a battenburg cake!!
Overseen by architect Clive Henning from Portadown, the current committee of volunteers have certainly worked very hard to keep this cherished building up to date - congratulations to them all.
If you ever need a place to hold a meeting, or a party, look no further than the G.C.C. Hall in Gilford.
Thank you to Noel Conlon for the tour!
