A message from Martin Doyle
"As some of you may remember, last year The Irish Times published Dirty Linen, an article about my experience of growing up in the parish during the Troubles. As a consequence of that, Noel O’Dowd got in touch with me and I was privileged to meet him, his father Barney and the rest of the O’Dowd family in Co Meath. In January, The Irish Times published another article by me, A Ghost Estate and an Empty Grave, about the terrible attack on the O’Dowds’ family home in January 1976 and its aftermath. As part of that piece, I listed all the other Troubles-related killings in the parish. I have since been in touch with relatives of some other victims with a view to telling their stories too, not just what happened to them but a sincere attempt to honour their memory by offering their friends and family the opportunity to talk about and pay tribute to their loved ones. If anyone would like to get in touch with me, I can be contacted at
