In memory of Maureen Burns

Funeral Leaflet Maureen Burns 2

Maureen Burns
1948 - 2020

Maureen was born in Kernan on 10th May 1948, the eldest of 8 children to Richard and Sarah McConville. She attended Ballyvarley Primary school before progressing to St. Patrick’s in Banbridge and then to Banbridge Tech. After leaving school, Maureen began to work in Woolworths – a job which was to last for the rest of her working life. Her career began in the office she progressed through the ranks to Manager in Armagh, Lurgan and Banbridge.
Maureen married Arthur here in this church in December 1984, but unfortunately Arthur died 10 years later. Maureen was also very interested in all sorts of sports and after his Arthur’s death, she started playing bowls with Ballyvarley and Banbridge. She absolutely loved the bowls and made some great friends in the bowling world. Rugby and golf were also great favourites and she enjoyed playing whist. Maureen also loved going on foreign holidays. She had a close bond with all her family, including her nephews and nieces and was a great support to sister Rosie and brother Robert. Maureen had a very strong faith and she particularly loved attending Mass here in Laurencetown on a Sunday morning and also Monday evenings. A very popular member of the community, Maureen will be sorely missed by her family, neighbours and many friends.

Our parish community offers its sincere sympathy to Ann (Portadown), Alice (Canada), Lily (Spain), Rose, Robert (Trough Lane) and Gerard (Laurencetown).

May she rest in peace
