THE GETTIN AHEAD PROJECT
The Gettin Ahead Project has completed a ten week project in conjunction with the Southern Health and Social Services Disabilities Team.
Six young people referred to us by the Team joined up with six young people from Laurencetown to complete a project covering topics such as internet safety, bullying, peer pressure, careers advice and interview techniques.
Thanks go to BNL Productions in Portadown for the taking of sessions in the use of professional audio and video equipment and for their patience in helping us to produce a DVD about interview techniques.
The project culminated in a trip to Sheepbridge Inn for a Bite and Bowl session and then a presentation of certtificates at he community centre and a first viewing of the DVD the young people produced.
This will be the first of many collaborations between the Gettin Ahead Project and the Disabilities Team over the next couple of years.
Thanks go to Helen Woods for delivering some trainingat the project to Cherith Quinn of Banbridge Careers Officefor advice and guidance given and to Gilberry Fayre for providing the supper at the event.
A huge thankyou to all the young people who took part in the project and helped make it a huge success.
Gettin Ahead is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
