The Primary & children from St. Colman's Bann Primary School and Gilford Primary School took part in a Cross community trip to Portrush on 26th – 27th September.
There were 10 pupils from each school.
The trip was rganised by local Community Relations Officers, Constables Colin Madine and Ronnie McArthur PSNI… and they were assisted by another constable from Banbridge.
Master Monaghan and Mrs Armstrong (Principal Gilford P.S.) accompanied the pupils on the overnight trip which will involved a treasure hunt, surfing lessons and a visit to the Giant’s Causeway.
There was no cost to any pupil or parent/guardian. The children left the school on 26th Sept at 9.00am and returned to school for collection on 27th Sept at approximately 4.00pm.
Accomodation for the day was provided by waty of a youth hostel - very clean, safe and well run. The entire day was a huge success with great interest from the P.6 pupils who hope they get the same chance next year! Colin Madine intends to reapply for funding to repeat the experience.
”The Children had a fantastic time. They really enjoyed the activities and I was so proud of how well they mixed and played with the other children. As I had expected, their behaviour and good manners were a credit to their families and to our school community. This was a fantastic learning experience taken beyond the normal school environment.” John Monaghan Principal of St. Colman's Bann.
