Mrs. Lorna Hendron left St. Colman's Bann in June 2016 to take up a post in Lismore Comprehensive School and was invited back for a presentation at the First Friday Mass in October 2016.
In her speech, Mrs. Neeson said -
"We are here today to celebrate the contribution that Mrs Hendron made during her time in our school. Indeed, I feel so privileged to be the person delivering this speech, as I know you have worked with lots of staff around here for a much longer time.
On a personal note, you made me feel like part of this ‘family’ from my first day here and continued to make my life as a first time principal so much easier – Lorna, I can’t thank you enough for that. I have to say, I always knew I could not hold on to you because you were just so talented and had so much to give. I knew you would need a bigger (not better) school to help fulfil all your talents.
A couple of years ago, I completed a Professional Qualification in Headship and I remember an elderly gentleman telling me that I should never take for granted the work of the caretaker and secretary because when they are not there, nobody else can do their jobs. What a wise man!
Lorna, you definitely weaved magic into everything you did around here. Apart from all your duties attached to a Senior Clerical Officer, you also managed (to mention a few) to make the best booklets for all the children celebrating the sacraments; posies for the church; sort out all the computer problems, especially when little fingers locked their computer accounts and fix all our whiteboards. I always knew that I needed to order a skip when the clamp came out and the hair was tied back. You meant business, as you tidied and sorted the storerooms around the school.
You have the respect of all the community because you showed respect in all your encounters with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community. Your enthusiasm would light up a room when you entered it. Your qualities of fairness, honesty and sheer hard work is what we are going to miss and what makes you, who you are.
Lorna, on behalf all the whole community, we wish you every good wish as you embark on your new job. We hope you will be very happy and you continue to shine and feel fulfilled in all you do."
Head Girl Devyn Savage and Head Boy Ethan Lyness made the presentation.
Thanks to Liam Hendron for the photos!
