Local author Jean Kelly visits St. John's
Local author Jean Kelly visited St. John’s on Thursday 24th October. Primary Five and Six were very excited having read her first novel ‘Charlie Crow sorts it!’ She has recently released her second novel ‘Charlie Crow and the Vanishing River’ and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed finding out about what is involved in writing and publishing a novel
The Pupils were all very keen to meet Charlie Crow and Rory Robin in person!
Jean Kelly left mainstream teaching after fourteen years to become involved in community relations work in Northern Ireland. In 1991 she founded the Speedwell Trust to bring together Catholic and Protestant children on joint environmental projects. In 2004 she received from America, the inaugural Harry McKillop Irish Spirit Award, in recognition of extraordinary humanitarianism. Jean retired as Director of Speedwell in 2006.
