The theme of Catholic Schools' Week this year is:
'Catholic Schools: Learning with Pope Francis to Care for Our Common Home'.
On Monday 29th January staff and pupils took part in a whole school assembly to mark the beginning of Catholic Schools' Week. Various events and activities took place throughout the week.
A number of staff and pupils travelled to St. Peter's Church, Lurgan on Wednesday 1st February to join with schools from the Dromore Diocese in celebrating Mass to mark this special occasion. Bishop Mc Areavey and Priests of the Diocese con-celebrated this Mass.
On Thursday 2nd February all pupils and staff joined with parishioners for Mass in St. John's Church to celebrate Catholic Schools' Week.
Our thanks are extended to Canon Powell, our School Chaplain for his constant support and for making this Mass so special.
Catholic Schools' Week will conclude with a closing assembly on Friday 3rd February.
"Let us become agents of his mercy, channels through which God can water the earth and protect all creation." Pope Francis
It was lovely to see all the children from St. John's P.S. Gilford at the 10.00am Mass in Gilford as part of Catholic Schools Week. The children delivered the Prayer of the Faithful and had everyone clapping along to their lively singing. Well done St. John's!
