A few of Father Des's friends hosted a Birthday Party in the Community Centre, Laurencetown to celebrate his 60th birthday on 27th July 2023. Friends from parishes he served in over the past 33 years joined us to wish Fr. Des well. Because of Fr. Des's recent heath scare, it was a 'quiet' affair and included a buffet provided by Gilberry Fayre, scrumptious desserts provided by those of us who could bake, a slide show depicting Fr. Des's life and a surprise showing of the 'Cliff Richard' segment of Canon Treanor's Golden Jubillee concert in 1991. A HUGE 'thank you' to Claire in the Community Centre for facilitating us, Sheila Monaghan who kept us right, Linda Savage for the beautiful centre piece for the cake, Lylnn for the table decorations and everyone who helped decorate the centre. It was lovely to be able to celebrate another 60th clerical birthday - (the last one was Canon Powell's which the TYG hosted in the Den in 2008! (https://tullylish.com/birthdays/453-our-pp-is-60)
