What a coincidence that the TLC name links our own group in the parish (Tender Loving Care) and the TLC (The Love of Christ) Orphanage in South Africa!

Attached some photos from the children's home on Tuesday.  They range from 1 week to 18 years.  It was a very humbling experience to witness to these abandoned children.  Hope you have managed to get connected to the TLC website to give you more information.  It might be a wonderful for any girl/boy from home who would want to offer some voluntary service for a year or two!!! 

Most children are abandoned and referred from the surrounding hospitals.  Those born in hospital from HIV mothers are immediately put on treatment.  Those left elsewhere come to the home and then only receive treatment but it usually is late and they suffer.  The most recent admission is only one week old and so tiny.  The woman who runs the home is called Thea Garvis.  She has adopted 24 children who can not be placed anywhere else.  Other children have been placed with foster parents.  Quite a few have gone to families overseas.  It was a great visit for me.
