VISIT OF RELICS OF ST. THÉRÉSE OF LISIEUX

WITH THE RELICS OF HER PARENTS

SAINTS LOUIS & ZÉLIE MARTIN

The Relics of St. Thérèse will arrive at the Cathedral on

Saturday 11th August 2018, 11.00am and depart

Sunday 12th August 2018 at 9.30am.

There will be an additional Mass on Saturday Evening at 11.00pm.
The Cathedral will close at 12.30pm.

Pilgrims are welcome to venerate the Relics during these times.

 

 

Please note the following arrangements:


1. The General Public will enter Newry Cathedral via the main door, Hill Street

 

2. There will be no vehicular access to this area.

 

3. There will be access for sick / disabled visitors (incl. Wheelchairs) through the Cathedral back gates, Lower Water Street.Limited parking will be available for disabled in this area.

 

4. No vehicles will be permitted in the grounds of the Cathedral. Stewards will advise on local parking.

                                              

5. An atmosphere of prayerful silence will be encouraged within the Cathedral. Photography is not permitted.

                                             

6. Queuing may be necessary. Please co-operate with the stewards at all times.

                                                  

 

N.B. The Relics will leave Newry Cathedral at 9.30am sharp on Sunday morning.

 NEWRY CATHEDRAL 13TH JULY 2018 NEWS

altRelics of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux will return to Newry Cathedral on Saturday 11th August. Arriving at 11am.

When the relics last visited the cathedral, in May 2001, thousands of people came to venerate the saint’s remains. Click to read BBC News article.

This time, the relic will be accompanied by relics of the saint’s parents, Saints Louis and Zélie Martin.

The Carmelites have arranged that the relics will come from Lisieux to Ireland to coincide with the World Meeting of Families 2018. The Relics will be at the WMOF 2018 Opening Ceremony in the RDS, Dublin, on Tuesday, August 21, and they will also be in the sanctuary in the Phoenix Park for the Papal Mass on Sunday, August 26.
