Musical Extravaganza at St. Patrick's |
St.Patricks College were delighted to welcome world renowned musician Soweto Kinch and David Lyttle in to school for a musical extravaganza workshop with Y.9.
Award winning alto-saxophonist and MC Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians in both the British jazz and hip hop scenes and has won many awards including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, two UMA Awards and a MOBO for best Jazz Act in 2003. In October 2007, he won his second MOBO Award, at the O2 Arena, London where he was announced as the winner in the Best Jazz Act category- fending off stiff competition from the likes of Wynton Marsalis. David Lyttle is no stranger to Banbridge as he is from Waringstown. David is a music producer and is currently making big sounds in the music industry with his latest album Interlude.
Both musicians joined forces to let the pupils of St.Patricks take part in rap, hip-hop and jazz workshops. Overall this was a great experience for the pupils and they will always remember the day they met these two wonderful musicians.
