It is 60 years since I was last in Gilford at the age of 9.My father Daniel Quinn and his brother(my uncle) Joe were over to visit their Aunt Maggie(Quinn) McManus who lived in Hill St.Known locally as Keady Row I believe. Her brother was Michael Quinn and the family lived in Barrackhill Lawrencetown way back. Whilst we were there we also met her daughter Maggie Reilly, her husband John and their family.I remember Jim Reilly but can't remember his sisters names.Well it was 60 years ago. I also remember the West family. They all lived in Dunbarton Bungalows. I have some photos of back then when we were kids and just wondered if any of them still lived in the area. It would be nice to hear from them and if they remember our visit. Also I would appreciate any information about any Quinn's to whom I may be related it would make an old man from Glasgow very happy. Kind Regards..."Jimmy Quinn..........Glasgow.

Bann P.S. Sports Day
by John Monaghan from St. Colman's Bann Primary School
10. June 2013
Catherine, thanks again for brilliant photos of school sports day last week. The children - and parents/grandparents all had a fantastic day. The big turn out of families really added to the "feelgood factor" A big thanks also to the Mums and Dads who ran in the parents' races. They were really up for fun! I loved the ice-cream van being there because eating ice cream was the only sport I was ever good at!
Comment:
Thanks John - a great day was had by all.

I was wondering if anyone knows how Miss Mackin, Master Rooney and Principal McBreen are doing....it's 40 years since I was at BannPS. Haven't been back but I often wonder how things have changed.
Comment:
Hi Brian I don't remember a Miss Mackin or a Master Rooney, but maybe someone else will. Principal McBreen passed away many years ago (R.I.P.)

All of the pictures are a delight to see, and a great way for the parish to celebrate these special moments in the spiritual development of our future community leaders! Once again a wonderful site. I love to revisit every so often and found the photo of my mother Rose McCaffrey as a school girl. Bann School Photo 1922. She is called Rosie. I was looking at all the names and wondering if any of those names mentioned there knew mum as a teenager and adult. I would love to hear if they did. Wonderful help you gave me Catherine in compiling my McCaffrey Family Tree. xxxxx K

Greetings to any other McComishes and Byrnes in or around Tullylish. My great great grandfather named James McComish married Catharine Byrne. Their progeny ended up in NZ. I'm fascinated to learn more of Irish culture and of where my family originated. I don't see many McComish names in any of the Tullylish sites, but I've seen a number of Byrne names. Any feedback welcome. Thanks. Harry
Comment:
Harry There are certainly a lot of McComish's in our old records. I'll see what I can find for you. Catherine
